Talk the Walk
Talk the Walk: Networking events for people promoting walking.
The format of a Talk the Walk event is fairly straightforward:
- Meet up
- Mix and Mingle
- Listen to a 3-5 minute presentation - up to 16 at any event - (let us know if you have something you want to talk about).
- Ask questions - Share ideas - Create an action plan
Talk the Walk offers any participant the opportunity to speak to the whole group. The more speakers there are the less time each is given to speak.
Each Talk the Walk has a definite theme; to date the following themes have been offered: physical activity; emotional well-being and public space; animating public space; and children, play and independent mobility.
Bringing professionals from different fields together to promote walking is key to Talk the Walk, and in trying to achieve this and to keep costs to a minimum we have co-hosted Talk the Walks, with the Urban Design Group at the Arts Council, with the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment, with Play England and most recently with NHS Greenwich. We are always keen to hear from other organisations that can offer us a venue that accommodates 40 people.
You can read about previous Talk the Walks on this wiki.
We are currently surveying particpants from all our previous Talk the Walks, and will publish responses and plans for future events. There's a Talk the Walk on Healthy Parks, Healthy Communities timetabled for 3 November at Bromley Central Library. Registration for this event will open at the beginning of October. We hope to host a Talk the Walk before the end of September, however, we are still looking for an appropriate venue.
Go to the Talkshops form if you wish to register to take part in a future Talk the Walk. If you wish to speak to the whole group, then please make sure you add detail to the Topic box, and take care to check all the pertinent check boxes.
